THE OLD RISTIĆ VILLA

This is a remarkable building in the center of Niška banja (or spa), whose construction was initiated in 1936 by the famous Niš industrialist Dimitrije Mita Ristić, and which was finished by his sons.  The name of the architect is unknown.

It was built in the style of late French Neo-Classicism with a spacious ground level terrace and colonnades supporting the upper terraces via an architrave. Above the prominent cornice is a garret roof, and the façade is completed with shallow decorations, with a special finish around the windows and with an occasional tympanum above them. The lower terrace and staircase have balustrades, and the railing on the floor is made of wrought iron. The good quality interior, with plaster profiling and stained glass is only partially preserved.

The villa was nationalized in 1945, and it was used as a school, and then as a residential building, and recently, it is in part a restaurant.
