THE TOWN HALL

The Town Hall (previously the City of Niš Presidency building) is at the very center of the city and with its location, completes the block of buildings forming the central city square – Kralja Milana Obrenovića Square. It was built for the needs of the branch of the National Bank in Niš, from 1926 to 1927, in accordance with the designs of the Belgrade architect Aleksandar Janković.

In architectonic terms, it belongs to the most valuable and most representative public buildings and palaces of the city of Niš. The building was constructed in the spirit of the late French Neo-Classicism, with rich decorative ornaments in artificial stone. It is characterized by good craftsmanship, and particularly an accented central part, colonnades, balustrades, rows of tympanums, an abundance of floral ornaments in the deep relief above the window openings and details made of wrought iron.

Nowadays, the building is the seat of the Mayor and executive authorities of the city of Niš.
