THE SOUTH MORAVA BANK BUILDING

The Južnomoravska Bank (the South Morava Bank) palace stands out as a prominent building within the old and partially preserved urban entity of the “Obilićev venac” block, dating back to the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. It was most likely built in 1920 according to the designs of the Ministry of Construction, and there are no available data on the architect.

In architectonic terms, it is a very valuable one-story building constructed in the spirit of Neo-Classicism with Neo-Baroque elements. The main façade wall is accentuated by a central, vertically prominent avant-corps with an entry portal, balcony, tympanum and clock tower, which divides the horizontal layout of the building into symmetrical entities.

After a complete renovation in 1979, after its initial and residential-office space functions, it again resumed its function of an office building.
