The building of the Surgery pavilion of the Military Hospital of Niš is located in the vicinity of “Ćele Kula” (the Skull Tower) and in the yard of the present-day Military Hospital. The building was erected in 1907 according to the designs of the Belgrade architect Nikola Nestorović. The building is a free-standing structure in space, and it was designed and built as a hospital building. It was built using the most contemporary building materials of the time.
At the time when it was built, by the beginning of the 20th century, as a public health care building it was a true representative of the building philosophy of the time. The building was designed in the spirit of the new aspirations of the new class of urban citizens, with façade s containing elements and details of Neo-Romanesque architecture.
The building still serves its original function.
