MERCHANT CEKIĆ’S PALACE

The one-story house of the merchant Todor Cekić is located in the greater central area of Niš. It was built in 1928 as the family home for the famous merchant, at a time when he possessed a large hat and cap shop in the center of Niš.

It was built in the style of European traditionalism, with Baroque elements. The central polygonal terrace of large dimensions, with a fan-like glass canopy, is characterized by two smaller lateral balconies to the left and right, symmetrical to the terrace vertical. The entire façade of the house has a superb mortar finish in floral and geometrical ornaments, especially in the attic area and around the window openings.

To date, the building has changed both its owners and functions (a residential building, office space, an art gallery, bank). Today, the building is used as office space for various businesses.
