NIKOLA JOVANOVIĆ’S HOUSE

The pelt trader and property owner Nikola Jovanović built this one-story building with a store on the ground level and a residential area on the upper floor on the corner of Obrenovićeva and Svetozara Markovića streets, by the beginning of the 1900s. The designer of the building is unknown.

On the upper floor façade  of the building, on the characteristic corner tower above the entrance to the shop and above the window, the shallow decoration in mortar with geometric and plant elements indicates the eclectic tendencies in the city architecture at the beginning of the 20th century.

After WWII, the house was nationalized, just as many others, only to be returned to the owners at a later date. It retains its original function. The façade of the house was renovated in 2005
