It was constructed in 1966 at a location which was at the time on the periphery of the city, between the complexes of the Civil and Military Hospital.
The architect in charge was a professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Stojanka Mitić.
The simple form of the main volume of the building is supplemented with a side entry block, elevated in respect to the ground level, which on the west side expands into an amphitheater, and connects the Faculty to the Student Polyclinic and ORL Clinic built in 1969. The architecture, façade and interior details mark this building as an example fully consistent with the International Style in architecture. The spirit of Bauhaus, the famous German school of modern architecture and design founded in 1919, and of the first buildings of its founder Walter Gropius, is also noticeable on the edifice.
The block of the maxillofacial surgery building designed by the architect Mirjana Bašović was added in 2009 on the east side. Even though the annex has a moderate design, in terms of proportions, details and coloration, it is distinct from the basic buildings, which is one among the intervention practices. In town planning terms, the entire complex preserved the designated green areas.
