The building is located at the beginning of the central city pedestrian zone in Obrenovićeva Street. It was designed by Josif Albala from Belgrade, and it was built for the Nisim brothers, who were merchants from Niš.
This residential–office building was built in 1930, in the recognizable spirit of the early Moderne style, using the simple elements of façade plastics. As such, it survived all the demolitions in its surroundings, and it is fitted within an entirely new building which definitively formed the entire façade front of the street. Its charm perhaps lies in the dynamic form of the third floor – an unusual design with a rounded form which corresponds to the balconies of the first and second floors. The building still retains its residential function.
