The block of high-rise buildings, organized in a staggered horizontal and vertical pattern, on the corner of IX Brigade and Vojvode Mišića streets, was built in 1973 according to the designs of the Belgrade architect Slavko Đurić.
The high-rise buildings were created in the period of the expansion of the city from the center towards the periphery in all directions, and they represent an architecture which observes the functional design of the apartments, that is, they are a part of the residential architecture of the 1970’s. These buildings are by form dominant vertical prisms, with vertical strips and window openings, and separated profiled concrete slabs, which have an additional effect on the vertical accent. The interesting details of the façade are the projecting concrete terraces, with arched peripheries of the console slabs containing the metal parts of the railing.
Next to the high-rise block, in the same architectonic manner, a large ground level general store was built, which used to be known as the “Gavrilović” store, which is how the citizens of Niš refer to this high-rise block.
